Floods, roads and fire

Heavy rain can cut the roads in and out. In the February 2022 floods Nimbin was cut off, two landslips closed parts of Nimbin Road (the second was not fully repaired until May 2024), and the flood broke the village's water pipeline. If big rain is forecast, check Live Traffic NSW before you drive, and the NSW SES for flood warnings.

Gravel roads into Nightcap National Park, such as the road to Protesters Falls, can become impassable after rain, and tracks are sometimes closed. Check NPWS park alerts first. In dry spells, check fire danger ratings with the NSW RFS.
